Internet trolls are the people/users who comment inappropriately or obnoxiously on any internet forum/blog/article/etc, really any web medium that allows viewer comments. They are usually made anonymously and can be offensive, annoying, or can even blatantly attack the subject or content of a given media. Trolls usually make these comments with the goal of creating an argument or picking a fight. Trolls will most usually then monitor a site closely to see if other users have responded to their comments and so they can keep the argument/fight going. On sites that allow anonymous commenting trolls usually become more of a problem as people feel freer to make rude comments when their name/profile is not attached to it. Some sites take preventative measures to stop trolls by allowing only registered users to comment or by screening posts before they are published. Just like in regular life, or with addicted Facebook users (we all have friends that just won't get off that site), one of the best ways to deal with a troll is to ignore them entirely because they are usually just looking for a response. Some sites will also have a ban feature which allows users who see someone trolling the sites to ask them to be banned by the site owner.
